Flying from the U.S.
Airports
We encourage everyone to fly to Puerto Plata airport. It's closer and the transfer is more pleasant as the drive to/from Santiago airport goes through the mountains.
Puerto Plata [POP] is about 45min from wedding resort
Santiago [STI] is about 2h from wedding resort
East vs. West Coast
If you’re flying from east coast, you may be able to find direct flights to Puerto Plata, however, for our west coast friends you will need to catch a connecting flight. To minimize flight time a connecting flight in Texas/Florida is probably best.
Travel Requirements
Passport
Passport needs to be valid for a minimum of 6 months from entering Dominican Republic, so if you’re passport is expiring sometime in September or later, you’ll need to get a new passport.
Visa
NO visa is required for U.S. or E.U./U.K citizens so all of our guests should be able to enter Dominican Republic visa free so long as the stay is less than 30 days.
However, given that majority of flights have a connecting flight in the U.S. you will likely need to get a U.S. ESTA Visa to be allowed to transfer at the U.S. airport to the final flight to Dominican Republic.
Customs
Dominican Republic requires tourist to fill out an electronic customs document. One submission per family (up to 7 people in a family). Click HERE to view link to Dominican Republic Immigration website where you fill out the form.
